LIBOR Installs 2004 Leadership


December 15, 2003 - West Babylon, NY - The Long Island Board of Realtors, Inc. (LIBOR) is pleased to announce Mel Farkas, Century 21 AA Realty, as the 2004 LIBOR President. Mel was installed into his new post by fellow Realtor® Peter Caruso, Caruso & Boughton Realty, during the Annual Installation Dinner held at the Crest Hollow Country Club on November 20th.

Mel Farkas joined LIBOR in 1992 and is the Director of Training and Development at Century 21 AA Realty. Mel has served LIBOR in many capacities over the past decade, including his most recent positions as LIBOR President-Elect and Education Committee Chairperson. Mel was the recipient of two distinguished Realtor awards that included being named 2002 NYSAR Realtor Associate of the Year and in 2001, he was named the LIBOR Realtor Associate of the Year.

Mel has a strong commitment to community service. He is involved in many charitable endeavors including the Realtor Rumble, food and clothing drives, Easter Seals, Long Island Hospice Network and the Marty Lyons Foundation.

The leadership that will support Mel in 2004 includes the following LIBOR Officers: Jay Helsinger, Custom South Shore Real Estate, President-elect; Adriana Jurcev, Prudential Douglas Elliman Realty, Vice President-Queens; Sheryl Kushnick, Real Estate Depot of New York Vice President-Nassau; Gilbert Picard, Picard Realty and Associates, Vice President-Suffolk; Linda Bonarelli, REMAX/North Shore, Treasurer; and Kathy Engel, REMAX Elite Realty, Secretary.
