LIBOR Names 2006 REALTOR®-Broker of the Year
Carol Gallo-Turschmann
December 2006 - Queens, NY – The
Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) announced that it raised more than
$35,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island to sponsor a room
in the new wing at the House. Realtors from Queens, Nassau and Suffolk
Counties joined together to raise the funds and were on hand at the Ronald
McDonald House Celebration of Lights during the holiday season to commemorate
the donation.
“This is the second room that LIBOR has sponsored at the Ronald McDonald House
of Long Island,” said Gil Picard, president of LIBOR. The Realtor® support is
part of LIBOR’s ongoing philanthropic program titled “We’re More Than Realtors® .” It
is coordinated by the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) and their Public
Relations Committee. The campaign showcases the support real estate agents provide
to the local community and to nonprofit organizations on Long Island throughout
the year.
“Our members want to make a difference in this community and we are doing so
helping the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island create a home-away-from-home
for families for children undergoing medical treatment and their families,” Picard
continued. Buddy Hoosein, vice president of the Queens Chapter of LIBOR, added “LIBOR
is much more than a professional organization; we are a community that seeks
to help a difference in the neighborhoods where we do business.”
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island recently initiated a capital campaign
to double the size of the facility so that no family will ever have to be turned
away. “The generous contribution by LIBOR helps us to meet our goal by providing
a comfortable and supportive environment that helps families through their most
difficult time,” said Stacie Rodriguez, President of Ronald McDonald House.
