Suffolk County

Suffolk County is located in Long Island, New York, beginning at the mid section of the Island, from the Nassau County Line eastward to the end. It is approximately 911 square miles and home to 1.4 million people. It is divided into ten townships: Babylon, Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, Brookhaven, East Hampton, Riverhead, Southold, Shelter Island, and Southampton. Within these townships are 31 villages and 71 school districts. Suffolk County is governed by a County Executive, and a Legislature consisting of 18 members.
