Nassau County is located in Long Island, New York, beginning from the mid part of the Island, and moving West to the Queens line. It covers approximately 287 square miles, and is home to 1.3 million people. Nassau County is divided into three townships; Hempstead, North Hempstead, and Oyster Bay. Each of these townships has its own supervisor and town board. Within these three townships are 64 villages and 56 school districts. Each village is governed by a Mayor and Village Board. Nassau County is governed by a County Executive and 19 County Legislators.
